MANITOWOC, Wis. — Silver Lake College music student Kevin Sievert will be among the performers featured in the “City of Stars” variety show, starting at 7:30 p.m. on July 26 at the Capitol Civic Centre, 913 S. Eighth St., Manitowoc.
Sievert, a senior earning his Bachelor of Music degree in music performance and pedagogy, has built a local following as winner of the summer 2016 “Lakeshore’s Rising Stars” singing competition.
“We are very happy and proud to have him be a part of our ‘City of Stars’ variety show," said Loredana Ispas, head of publicity for the show.
Sievert inspires others to be determined and resilient, she said in an email.
“As a performer, Kevin has always loved being a storyteller. In a song or a character being performed, he believes he has an opportunity to affect people and tell them stories that are important. Music and performance … transcend and reach out to people in ways that sometimes just plain words never could. This idea has continued to push his passions, and he hopes one day to be a storyteller to people all over the world,” Ispas said.
“City of Stars” — billed as a “show about passion, music and dance” — spotlights Manitowoc talent and combines star performances with guest interviews. This premiere production is presented by host and entertainer Riley Haupt.
In addition to Sievert and Haupt, the show will feature a Britney Spears tribute by Casey McConachie, directly from Vegas; a performance by the talented Emmy Award-Winning composer and multi-instrumentalist Garth Neustadter; and Miss Wisconsin 2016 Courtney Pelot.
Audience members who bring canned foods or school supplies before the show will be entered in a raffle with the chance to win $1,000.
All seats are $30. For ticket information, contact the Capitol Civic Centre at 920-683-2184 or cccshows.org.
