MANITOWOC, Wis. — The public is invited to enjoy operatic scenes from “Die Fledermaus,” “The Marriage of Figaro,” “The Mikado,” “The Medium” and “Candide,” sung in English by Silver Lake College students during the Opera Workshop. Directors are music faculty members Emily Davis and Rachel Ware Carlton.
The production is a collaboration between the music and art departments. The props and set pieces were designed and created by art students under the direction of Dr. Dionne Landgraf, art faculty.
The first performance will begin at 9:15 a.m. on April 26 during the college-wide Silver Lake College Symposium: Celebration of Ideas. After the performance, the public can view other projects by students in various fields. The symposium and performance are free.
The second performance starts at 7 p.m. on April 28 in conjunction with the Spring Choral Concert, under the direction of music faculty member Dr. Kenneth Harned.
The Silver Lake Women’s Ensemble will present several numbers that pay tribute to Judy Garland. Also performing are the Silver Lake Men’s Ensemble, the Silver Lake Chorale and Concert Choir, and pianist Thomas Pibal.
