International Student from Spain feels at home at Silver Lake College

Silver Lake College junior David Martinez of Valencia, Spain, is a long way from home. Yet he feels very much at home in Manitowoc.

David came to the United States two years ago so that he could continue playing basketball while studying for his degree in psychology.

“In Spain, when you are 18, you either become a professional basketball player or semi-professional. Basketball is my passion. I didn’t want to give it up. At the same time, I knew my studies were very important,” he said.

Silver Lake College Admitting Students into Undergraduate Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program

The Wisconsin Board of Nursing voted unanimously on Jan. 14, 2016, to approve authorization for Silver Lake College to begin admitting students to its new four-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing program.

The state-of-the-art program, which will begin in fall of 2016, will help address the rapidly increasing need for nurses as growing numbers of people requiring health care (including older nurses) reach retirement age.
