As lead student supervisor of the campus coffee shop and spirit store, Silver Lake College student Jonathan Billingslea has learned some important lessons outside of the classroom.

When Mimi’s Café, which offers Starbucks beverages, opened in early December, students and staff were clamoring for their coffees and other drinks.

The Fitness Center, completed earlier this month, was created in an existing 2,000-square-foot space in the lower level of the Main Hall.

Lincoln's April Brunner signs letter of intent to play volleyball at SLC

Lincoln High School senior April Brunner has signed a letter of intent to attend Silver Lake College and play for the women’s volleyball team.

Brunner, the daughter of Dan and Julie Brunner of Manitowoc, was an all-conference libero in high school.

Lakers Legislation shares vision, seeks input

During its first spring semester meeting earlier this month, the Silver Lake College student government's executive leadership team shared its vision and sought input from the college community.

“We’re the voice between the students and administration, so we want to make sure to have a dialogue,” Justin Mrotek, president of Lakers Legislation, told those in attendance.

SLC's Tammy Reigel, Joel Griffith receive awards from historical society

Two people affiliated with Silver Lake College were recipients of the Manitowoc County Historical Society’s fifth annual Lisa Rohrer Volunteer of the Year Award.

Joel Griffith, a sophomore majoring in business management, and 2014 Silver Lake College graduate Tammy Reigel, the college’s event and conference coordinator, were honored earlier this month at the society’s annual meeting. The award is named in memory of a former volunteer and member.

SLC student Kevin Sievert accepted into prestigious New York City summer theater program

Silver Lake College music student Kevin Sievert — familiar to Manitowoc audiences from his roles in local productions — will get a taste of professional Broadway theater in August.

Sievert, a Manitowoc native, was recently accepted into the Open Jar Institute in New York City on a partial scholarship.
