Zigmunt Library offers chance to reduce fines with Fibs for Fines

Would you like to reduce your fine at Zigmunt Library? Would you like to express your creativity?

Natalie Long, SLC’s Director of Library Services, is offering people a chance to accomplish both next month with the inaugural Fibs for Fines.

Students, staff or faculty can write a provocatively deceptive tale explaining why your library material is late or has gone missing. Stories should be about 100 words in length and can be emailed to Long at natalie.long@sl.edu. Library staff have heard it all, so make sure it’s good. Make them laugh and shake their heads in wonder.

SLC’s Student United Way kicks off book drive, Day of Caring project

Silver Lake College’s Student United Way kicked off its book drive and community garden project Wednesday during its Spring Forum.

Members of the SLC community are being asked to donate books, which can be placed into cardboard collection boxes in the Ariens Family Welcome Center and in the Clare Hall lobby through April 25, said Alex Herman, president of the Student United Way.

SLC receives two-year grant for Camp Explore from Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction

Thanks to a grant from the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction, twice as many students in grades 3-9 will be able to attend Silver Lake College’s Camp Explore this summer.

“The grant, which SLC has received for the first time, allows Camp Explore to expand, so that’s exciting,” said Mary Snyder, SLC Grants and Planned Giving Specialist.
