It’s a trendy field that resonates with students.
“Graphic design is how today’s young people interact with art in the world,” said Erin LaBonte, Assistant Professor of Art at Silver Lake College. “They’re engaged in the visual world. We want to make sure they have the tools to become successful in this growing market.”
Sister Lorna, a longtime music professor at Silver Lake College, was presented with the award on June 28 during the opening dinner for the 2015 Kodály Summer Music Program.

They are volunteering for the Salvation Army of Manitowoc County’s Feed The Kids summer food program, which provides nutritious lunches to nearly 500 children in Manitowoc and Two Rivers each weekday through Aug. 28. Free lunches are distributed to children 18 and younger who are in need of a meal.
This summer, visitors might see Davis, a native of Springfield, Ohio, sitting at Silver Lake College’s Welcome Desk at the Ariens Family Welcome Center.
What they may not know is that he has an additional third-shift job at a local firm, plus two evening classes at the college. That’s in addition to the extra classes he took during his sophomore year so he could graduate in the spring of 2016.
But performing “The Star-Spangled Banner” before a Wisconsin Timber Rattlers baseball game earlier this summer was, well, more rattling that ever.
The minor-league team plays home games at Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium in Grand Chute, just outside Appleton.
“I chose to join Silver Lake College because I believe in the strategic vision of Dr. Chris Domes. I’m inspired by what the new college president is doing,” Barbeau said.

A variety of world-class musical artists will be coming to the Lakeshore as part of Silver Lake College’s 2015-2016 Artist Music Series.
The five concerts will be held in Endries Hall at the Franciscan Center for Music Education and Performance, located on campus at 2406 S. Alverno Road.
“Some of the things are quite decorative and quite beautiful,” Hansen said. “My grandchildren tease me. They say, ‘Grandpa lives in a museum.’”
