‘Pulp to Paper’ exhibit opens at SLC on Aug. 14

MANITOWOC, Wis. — “Pulp to Paper,” a retrospective of work in paper and book arts by Cheryl Mahowald, will be shown from Aug. 14 through Sept. 15 in the Donald P. Taylor Gallery at Silver Lake College, 2406 S. Alverno Road.

The gallery is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The public also is welcome to her artist’s talk at 9 a.m. on Sept. 6 in Room 102, and to an artist’s reception from 5 to 7 p.m. Sept. 13. The exhibit, talk and reception are free.

MANITOWOC, Wis. — Silver Lake College music student Kevin Sievert will be among the performers featured in the “City of Stars” variety show, starting at 7:30 p.m. on July 26 at the Capitol Civic Centre, 913 S. Eighth St., Manitowoc.

Sievert, a senior earning his Bachelor of Music degree in music performance and pedagogy, has built a local following as winner of the summer 2016 “Lakeshore’s Rising Stars” singing competition.

CREST HILL, Ill. – Silver Lake College alumna Audrie Burk recently was honored with the 2016 Illinois Grade School Music Association Barbara Buehlman Young Conductor’s Award.

Burk, who earned her Master of Music in Music Education with a Kodály emphasis from Silver Lake College in 2015, is choir director at Richland School District in Crest Hill, Illinois.

MANITOWOC, Wis. — Silver Lake College music student Noah Liermann of Newton is living his dream as he tours the state with Kids from Wisconsin.

Liermann was lucky — and talented enough — to be selected as a singer/dancer for the iconic musical troupe.

As part of its summer tour, Kids from Wisconsin will perform in Manitowoc at 6:30 p.m. on July 13 at the Capitol Civic Centre, 913 S. Eighth St.
