The Lakeshore Artists Guild Exhibit, opening on Nov. 9 at Silver Lake College, will feature an array of works from area artists. The exhibit runs through Dec. 15 in the Donald P. Taylor Gallery on campus, 2406 S. Alverno Road. Admission is free.
The Lakeshore Artists Guild, which represents Manitowoc County Artists, was founded in late 2014 by eight area artists.
“The Lakeshore Artists Guild is an excellent addition to the community,” said Erin LaBonte, Assistant Professor of Art at Silver Lake College.
“Manitowoc is home to many talented artists who explore mediums ranging from leatherworks to traditional easel painting,” she said. “The Guild offers artists an opportunity to share creative opportunities and engage in dialogue. I’m looking forward to seeing the variety of artistic expression that the Guild exhibit will present.”
The exhibit will features oil paintings by Jason Prigge, Chad Beeman and David Carpenter; handmade paper by Cheryl Mahowald; photography by Tina Prigge, Corey Hoppenrath and Cindy Hoppenrath; pottery by David Martin; mixed media by Erin LaBonte; leather pieces by James and Jill Iverson; and wood type letter press works by Stephanie Carpenter.
Exhibit hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.
A reception for the artists will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Nov. 19. All are welcome.
A duo made up of cousins Emily Marcus (saxophone, a freshman at Silver Lake College) and Hanna Stolper (piano, senior at Sheboygan Lutheran High School) will be performing for the reception. They will be playing a variety of music, ranging from well-known Billboard hits of the present to the melodic pieces of the past.
The exhibit is part of the Artists Guild Studio Tour, which will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Nov. 14-15 and Dec. 5-6. For more information, visit www.LakeshoreArtistsGuild.weebly.com.
