MANITOWOC, Wis. — Silver Lake College of the Holy Family will host a Fireside Poetry Night on Monday, Nov. 5 at 6:30 p.m. near the fireplace in the Ariens Atrium in the Franciscan Center for Music Education and Performance on campus, 2406 S. Alverno Road.
The free event is sponsored by the Silver Lake College of the Holy Family English Department and the College’s Zigmunt Library. Participants may share one to three original poems during the relaxed fireside reading. Light autumn-themed refreshments will be provided. All are welcome to attend.
“Lisa Kliment, interim library director, and I see this event as a chance for everyone to enjoy a relaxing evening near the fireplace while sharing poems in a supportive environment,” said Emilie Lindemann, English Department chair. “We’re always moved by the emotional intensity, and the wide variety of poetic approaches and themes in the work that students, faculty, staff, alumni and community members read. There have been some excellent poetry events in the Manitowoc area recently, and we’re eager to continue this momentum here at Silver Lake College of the Holy Family.”
