MANITOWOC, Wis. — The Silver Lake College English Department will host the discussion, “Poetry & Music: Intersections & Connections,” from 12:15 to 12:45 p.m. on Feb. 15.

The discussion, which is free and open to the public, will be in room 115 of the Franciscan Center for Music Education and Performance on campus, 2406 S. Alverno Road. Dr. Emilie Lindemann, associate professor of English, will facilitate the Silver Lake College Salon series discussion.

“When musician Bob Dylan was selected for the Nobel Prize in literature in October, some felt the boundaries of literature were being redefined. Yet, poetry and music have a long history of connections and intersections,” Dr. Lindemann said. "Using Dylan’s work as a starting point, the discussion will explore the influences of these forms on one another — from art songs to the use of poetry in contemporary music to poetry that responds to and engages with music."
