MANITOWOC, Wis. — Silver Lake College sophomore Shannon DeGrave of Wilson, Michigan, is one of the first recipients of the college’s Laker Award. She is majoring in theology and English.

The Laker Award is an opportunity for students, faculty and staff to nominate other students, faculty and staff for being outstanding members of the Silver Lake College community. The award recognizes small acts of kindness, caring, civility and responsibility on campus.

“Both years in the SLC Works program, she has been a periodicals assistant in the library. She is always willing to help others, even when not on duty,” said Tori Jonet, student coordinator of the program.

“I was working late and needed some colored card stock to finish a project for the next day,” said nominator Colleen Cooper, director of development and alumni engagement. “Shannon saved the night’s progress by helping me out and finding what I needed. Thank you, Shannon.”
