The Silver Lake College women’s basketball team bounced back from its first loss of the season by defeating Moody Bible Institute 86-39 on Nov. 17 in Chicago.
The Lakers jumped out to a 9-0 lead and never looked back en route to a 55-13 halftime lead.
Leading the way was sophomore guard Danielle Byrum of Sheboygan with 18 points (six three-pointers).
Senior center Raelyn Woock of Burnett scored 16 points, while senior forward Courtney Clavers of Brillion added 14 points and sophomore forward Daisneekqua Thompson of Pontiac, Mich., had 12 points.
UW-Platteville 75, SLC 51
The Lakers were outrebounded 67-40 by the taller Pioneers, an NCAA Division III opponent, in a game held Nov. 20 in De Pere.
Pacing SLC was sophomore forward Danelle Buck of Newton and senior guard Kaela Cheesman of Rolla, Mo., who each scored nine points.
Northland 75, SLC 72
Despite trailing by as many as nine points to their NCAA Division III opponent, the Lakers fought back to take a two-point lead in the fourth quarter before falling in overtime.
Byrum hit four three-pointers en route to a team-high 14 points. Also for SLC, Woock had 13 points and Buck finished with 11.
UW-Parkside 103, SLC 53
Senior guard Denzel Smith led SLC in points (16), rebounds (six) and steals (three) in a game held in his hometown of Kenosha on Nov. 17.
Senior guard Austin Allen-Walker of Milwaukee and junior center Pat Zemanovic of Genesee each added eight points for the Lakers. SLC freshmen guards Mateja Masic and Nemanja Peric, both from Serbia, combined for nine points.
Wooster 89, SLC 48
Sophomore guard Jordan Portee of Pontiac, S.C., finished with 10 points, three assists and two steals in SLC’s loss on Nov. 19 in Wooster, Ohio.
Junior center Stevens Alexis of Ft. Lauderdale added nine points, five rebounds and three blocks for SLC. Also for the Lakers, freshman center Quentin Hamilton of Canton, Ohio, pulled down six rebounds.
Ashland (Ohio) 89, SLC 47
Alexis had 10 points, four rebounds and two blocks in SLC’s defeat on Nov. 20 in Ashland, Ohio.
Smith added seven points, while Portee had five points, six rebounds and three assists.
Ohio Dominican 104, SLC 69
Alexis finished with 11 points and four rebounds for SLC on Nov. 21 in Columbus, Ohio.
Allen-Walker and Smith each had nine points and combined for seven rebounds, while Portee chipped in with seven points and three assists. Freshman guard Corey Lloyd of Irmo, S.C. had nine points and freshman forward Marko Lazarevic of Serbia added eight points.
